Chicken Fried Steak
🥩 Crispy, golden, and absolutely irresistible! Perfectly seasoned chicken fried steak with creamy gravy is pure comfort on a plate. 😍✨
Ingredients:
- 4 beef cube steaks (about 5 oz each)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1½ cups buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
For the Gravy:
- 3 tbsp pan drippings (from frying)
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Steak
- Pat the cube steaks dry and season lightly with salt and pepper. 🖐️
- In a shallow dish, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
- In another shallow dish, whisk together buttermilk and eggs.
- Bread the Steaks
- Dip each steak into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk mixture, and back into the flour mixture.
- Press the flour onto the steak to ensure a thick, even coating.
- Fry the Steaks
- Heat ½ inch of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry each steak for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. 🍳
- Make the Gravy
- Remove all but 3 tbsp of the pan drippings.
- Add flour to the drippings and whisk for 1-2 minutes. Slowly whisk in milk, cooking until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve
- Plate the chicken fried steak, drizzle with creamy gravy, and enjoy! Pair it with mashed potatoes or biscuits for a hearty meal. 🍽️
