Ingredients

  • 450g (1 lb) of thinly sliced beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1-inch piece minced ginger
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

Marinate the Beef

In a bowl, combine the beef slices, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix thoroughly and let the beef marinate for 15 minutes.

Prepare the Stir-Fry

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the wok.
  3. In the same wok, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir-fry the garlic and ginger until fragrant, approximately 30 seconds.
  4. Add the bell pepper and onion, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften.
  5. Return the beef to the wok and add the sesame oil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together well and cook for an additional 2 minutes, until evenly coated and heated through.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
